The caves and the crater lakes around Merdivenli and Denizkoy and the forests extending towards the Madra Stream are also important natural beauties of the Dikili Region. Another must see is the Merkez Mosque which is a rare example of a wooden construction which was built in 1789 without using any nails.
Candarli, a subdistrict of Dikili, is about 20 km away from Dikili. The town's name comes from Candarli Halil Pasha (Pasha meaning General in the Ottoman Army) who built a castle here. Candarli Castle is a must see in Dikili because it's one of the best preserved castles to be found in the Aegean Region. Candarli's antic name was Pitane. A nice and cosy place with affordable prices at Dikili is Villa Hanorah. Please check their website for more information... |
