Turunc is a very small village located in a cosy bay surrounded by fine forests. Turunc Bay is about 20 km away from
Marmaris and can be reached either by boat from Marmaris or by minibuses from Marmaris or Icmeler. Compared to the lively atmosphere and great nightlife of Marmaris, Turunc
offers a more peaceful and quiet holiday. Not affected from the mass tourism, Turunc has only a few hotels and many small fish restaurants. All the restaurants are located on the seaside and are very popular in the Marmaris region.
The peninsula that Turunc bay is located was called Loryma in the Carian times. About 5 km. to the center of Turunc, you can visit the Loryma Castle. Also, Amos, one of the 3 most important cities of the Rhodes Kingdom is located only 3 km. to Turunc. There are daily boat excursions to the natural beauties of the Marmaris region (like the Phosphorus cave). I also suggest you to visit the Kumlubuk Bay, about 5 km. away from Turunc. |
